Babushka Dolls

The body of the ancestor is as ornate as the largest babushka doll in the nest. The imagination is prepared to picture her veil worn to church, the rouged shape of her mouth from which another language came, certainly not the same tongue found on the doll three steps down which is the grandmother whose plaid dress is almost as simple as the mother’s solid apron. The mother is understood well and is immediate to the empty shell that is the daughter that does not open, who I am and will continue to be.
